Escape

To be etched

in the way

my cells

talk

Neurons whispering

to one another

in the shape

of you

Thoughts of you

were once

a vast ocean

now barren

having seeped

down the crevices

littering my mind

out of sight

out of mind

locked in a cell

alive but

forgotten

And awoken

when I stumble

upon a key

a place

a smell

For love

transcends

space and time

whether it is alive

or dead

And each soul

entangled

with ours

rewrites our thoughts

our brains

our bodies

whether we like it or not

For every mind

is a universe

and we are all

but explorers

charting vast, beautiful

galaxies and stars

so stunning

so unforgettable

no matter how hard

we may try

And even harder

when our world

has died

and we look up

to the heavens

of another’s mind

to escape

our own hell

and soar

amongst the stars
