The Universe Behind Your Eyes

eyes are windows

leading to a universe

between earrings

infinitely intricate

stunning and beautiful

a world

I am so excited

to explore

that I forget

to tell 

my own stories

and instead

live my life

unbalanced

and one-sided

for every mind

is a galaxy

with precious, beautiful

thoughts that may never

be had again

and it saddens

my soul

so deeply

when such valuable 

thoughts perish

with their creator

the entire cosmos

locked in their skull

decaying deep

in the Earth

for every mind

is a nebula

as when I look

into someone’s eyes

I see two stars

in a galaxy

while others see

two bars

in a dollar sign

how miserable

it must be

to look at this

stunning world

of sentient beings

and see them

as a single number

quantifying their 

immediate use

how I pity 

the fools

for at least seeing

every mind

as a universe

and every soul

as priceless

makes this world

so exciting

so vast

and so complex
