Hope

I went back

to see

the shore

I never thought

I’d see again

each time

the waves crashed

I listened

for the sea

was speaking

and I hung

to every word

as I listned

the sweet notes

became sour

for realized one day

I would not be able

to hear the next act

of the never-ending song

of existence

as I do now

but in this greif

was clarity

of what I should do

with the time

I have left

it was time to look up

to the sky above me

always there

yet always ignored

for who really stops

to look to the heavens?

it was time

to stop building stair cases

that led to no where

for the sake of building them

it was time

to sit down

and hear the way

the flowers moved

in the wind

it was time

to watch the bees

fly from flower

to flower

it was time

to notice the way we feel

when we see each other

smile

It was time

to see this mad world

for what it truly was:

a quest to find meaning

in chaos

a journey to find beauty

in horror

it was time

to see this world

as a rose

whose thorns

draw blood

but whose petals

are intoxicating

mesmerizing

and stunning

petals that are worth the thorns

a rose

I can’t put down

no matter how much

I may bleed.
