Fear as My Lord

I lost my faith
long ago

And fear became
my only God

and He,

He,
was unforgiving

For I no longer
strived towards
a goal
but ran
from pain
and failure

I was a horse

pulling a carriage,
galloping away,
from the Whip
faster and faster
trying to escape
a pain
that can never
be outrun
