The Quest
I am but
the cosmos
looking at itself
in a different light
the universe
attempting
to know itself
for all are but vessels
serving the galaxy
on a timeless quest
to drink from the chalice
of sentience
and serve as liaisons
to consciousness
informing our sender
of what it is like
to be
to known
and to lose everything
yet to be able to find reason
to endure
to assist the sea
in its vain attempts
to cross over
past the shore
to send waves deep inland
to finally know
what it is like
to be dry
only for its waves to fall short
and recede back
into its depths
in its tireless attempts
to see past
where the land
meets the sea
and know
what it is like
to be nothing
to be boiled away
at the end
of time and space
to know
the dryness
of death
and we are
nothing more
than seafoam
generated from
those desperate waves
carried by the winds
far, far from the sea
and into that land
of decay and impermanence
asked by the sea
to find a way
to find the light
in the darkest of places
and to at least try
to guide the sea
towards the heavens
for we are
the tools of the universe
helping it
come to terms
with the end of its days
fading
like everything must
contemplating
how to accept being no more
yet first having
to know what it is
to be
to know
and to lose itself
through us
as its medium:
Sea foam
of the waves
floating gently
past the shore
